Women freak me out. Yes, I am one but still…
Whew- I’m back from shooting the TV show pilot in Phoenix. What an amazing experience! Love Phoenix – the BEST weather ever for good hair! After the pilot, I flew to Las Vegas for Ali Brown’s SHINE event. I got super clear on something after spending days with a ton of successful women entrepreneurs. I want to give you MORE. I realized I’m sorta shy about sharing all my stuff… that’s not doing anybody any good! Soooo, starting Monday with the launch of my Fit for Biz Holiday Challenge, I’m also launching a daily video blog! I decided to do this for you after hearing the TV show pilot producer, Shay Pasau of Chikii Productions, say that she LOVES my videos… then random women approached me at Ali’s event to tell me they are HOOKED on my Fit Enough style… then I start seeing twitter followers and facebook friends requesting MORE. I say, be careful what you wish for because here it comes – yay!!!!!
All of the girlie action over those 8 days was enlightening. I learned a lot - and I thought I would share my thoughts. Not sure how to say this, but I think I was a man in a past life. I’m totally a woman - inside and out – nothing like Lady GaGa or anything – it’s just in working with, hanging out with and observing women I’m ready to admit that women both fascinate me and freak me out.
1. Women want to talk about feelings at the most inappropriate times. In Phoenix, after an emotional day of revelations, I just wanted to NOT talk about it. I wanted to order some sushi, have a glass of wine and just talk about anything else. That was not going to work for my dinner companion & friend. She made it clear that she was not interested in talking about Rock Band. She only wanted to discuss what I was ‘feeling’. Boo! Nobody likes to see a woman cry at sushi – most of all, the woman who used to be a man in a past life. Yes, it was good to get it out – No, it was not cool for me do it at sushi.
2. Women judge themselves and other women very harshly. The whole week was full of women expressing something they hated about their looks. As well, I heard lots of women commenting on other women. At Ali Brown’s event, every woman took the time to look great. Trying to give an honest compliment to someone was painful! I would say, wow that necklace looks amazing on you. The response would be 100 reasons why I was wrong. Ugh. Nevermind. Men don’t compliment other men nor do they judge. It’s a very healthy mix of ‘good enough’ and ‘who the hell cares’.
3. Women are hard to read. I saw a fist fight on the street one night. Two men were brawling like high school rivals. Once they were done, they got into the same car and drove away. How about that! Women make nice with everyone. I believe we’re so concerned with what everyone thinks, we slap on a smile no matter how stressful the situation. I’m not saying everyone should get into a fist fight whenever they get stressed out. I am saying we need to find a way to unmask the aggression and get it out. Here’s the video tip to wig out the safe way…
Women. Can’t live with ‘em… can’t live without ‘em. Freaky & fascinating – glad to be one this go round!
This week’s Action Item:
Try the tip from the video at least 3 times… see if it works as well for you as it does for me. Enjoy!
